Shortlands
Axe Valley Men’s Shed has a 2-acre plot of land on the outskirts of Axbridge. Over the last few months we have been developing the field in order to turn it into a garden and growing area for the Men’s Shed members. Have a look at the image gallery below to see some of our progress!
This plot offers a huge space to expand what we can do as a Shed. The aim of this project is to work together to create another place for people to gather and engage in outdoor activities, such as gardening and horticulture.
A new site with new opportunities
There are two ongoing projects utilising the new site.
- Our Heritage Orchard contains a variety of trees, including desert and cooking apples, pears, plum, cherry and greengage. The Woodland Trust is providing hedging bundles, and we have also planted 3×30 saplings with protection and support!
- The second project is a Sensory Garden, and is currently in need of volunteers to implement layout and planting.
